Hello, everyone! Welcome to MG degree now. I’d finished my first magic. The gathering product that I printed on the sweetie printer. I think it turned out really well and I designed it myself now. I had somebody in the previous video Tipped me off on a really cool thing that you can do with 3d printers. So I use that as my baseline for this, it turned out really excellent, and I’m gonna give away what we printed out here at the end, so stick around for that, and let’s just jump right into it, so I started off by going to Google and getting a SAP rolling image because that’s what I wanted to make a token of then I took that image and I cropped it a little bit to make it a little bit more taller than it is wide, so it’s more obvious when it’s being tapped to attack and such, and then I put a black border around it because we’re gonna make a lithograph so with lithographs the way that it works is if you put it up to the light, then you can see the image that you print it out in black and white and the way that they do that is they make things that are darker in the image thicker, so by putting a black border around it, then we get a nice, thick border all the way around the image, so here we’re on the Litha fan generating website 3d P. Drock / Luthor fame that’ll be in the description as well. If you can’t see it there and we just upload our image and it generates a little. Fame for us pretty easy. You can check out my model settings here that I’m using for the Litha fame. And yeah, that’s pretty much it, so we’re just gonna take our little. Fame that we had generated this way. Save it and 3d print it out now. For those of you, who don’t do 3d printing boo time-lapse exciting for those of you. Who do do 3d printing? I know what you’re thinking you’re like. Luke, what is wrong with you? I can’t print this out well. If you don’t give me your slicer settings that you use for this bad boy and don’t worry, we’re gonna do the slicer settings, but they’re just not important. Right now. You’re gonna see, we’re gonna we’re gonna move on. We’re gonna move on through the video because the time-lapse is done now. So why did we zoom to the creation of this piece? Well, because I think the result looks bad, so here’s why the lithograph sees light spaces as things that are further away from us because it’s trying to make it thinner, so that light can pass through. Well, we’re not here for light to be passing through These tokens are gonna be on the table, so we actually want it to be a cool 3d representation of what it actually looks like, so, for example, for example, the little spongy shelves, those are hit by the light pretty strongly, so in this one, those are actually further away. Instead of coming out towards us, they’re going inwards or on his flank, where it’s the closest to us that furry bit that part is deep into the thing instead of being outwards or for example, the leg that’s coming across horizontally, the top half of the leg is catching a light and so what that is doing in the lithograph is it’s making it downwards in. So we get this weird like the slash across the image so. I think this turned out badly, but I want to fix it. So here we are in Photoshop and to start off. I just wanted to say that I can’t teach you how to Photoshop in this video, You know, but I can tell you what I’m trying to achieve, and for those of you who are like pretty artistic kind of know what’s what’s going on on Photoshop or similar programs like then you can do it yourself so the first thing that I’m doing is is I raise the saturation a lot because this will allow me to grab certain sections of the image easier and the saturation isn’t important because we’re gonna convert to black and white and so what you’re doing throughout This is you’re darkening areas that you want to be closer to you enlightening areas that you want to be further away, and you have to imagine what it’ll look like as a black and white image, even though you’re doing it in color, so for example, when we invert parts of the images, you get like weird blue tones and all that jazz, but it’s not important because once again it’s gonna be black and white in the end, so I’m using invert. I’m drawing with my own brushes. I’m using the stamp tool, all sorts of stuff in order to try to achieve the effect that I want and there’s no real way for me to tell you that you do. These steps ABC in order to get to the end result what I can suggest very strongly is that you edit in color because if you convert to black and white first and then try to work in black and white, then you won’t be able to use your selection tool as efficiently because it’s only gonna be able to look through shades of grey instead of looking also for all of the colors in the color spectrum, now, with the power and toughness thing that I make here, I’m making the border to that in black and the letters in black, and then I’m making the background to that little box in a dark grey and the reason why is because black is out towards us and more white is backwards, so this is going to make those numbers and the border stick out towards us, so we’re done with our work in Photoshop and we’re back to the lithograph generator and we’ve done a really good job, turning a lithograph generator into a 3d model generator and instead of worrying about how much light is passing through using that that ability that it has in order to just make something that has the correct dimensions for us and then. I mess with the settings here a little bit. You can steal those if you like, and yeah, we’re done with this 3d model, so we got to save it and that that’s it so here we are in the slicing software. The first thing I do is I scale it down a little bit. I want it to be a little bit closer to a magic card size. And then the next thing is the most important thing, which is that I rotate it vertically now. 3d printers, a really important thing to know is is that they have way better vertical resolution than horizontal resolution. So you want to take the most detailed face if possible and make it vertical. So that’s what I did here and that helps it turn out well now. We’ll go over the rest of the slicing settings during the time lapse. And for you, 3d printing nerds out there that have your own 3d printer. Here are my settings so. I’ve got a standard nozzle size of 0.4 millimeters, so I’m using a layer height of 0.1 millimeters a wall thickness of 0.8 millimeters a 10% infill with a triangle pattern, a print speed of 40 millimeters per second, instead of what is a little bit more standard on my printer 60 millimeters per second, and I’m using an 8 millimeter brim Now the reason that I’m doing, a brim is because so little surface area is actually touching the build plate here that as it gets higher, it’s going to either, you know, maybe knock over or if it doesn’t knock over at the very least, it’ll have more vibration as it gets higher and the build plate is moving quickly, so because of that. I wanted a nice brim to keep it stuck very hard to build plate, and then you can just take that brim off and and sand it when you’re done now, Of course, you might find this to be a little bit difficult to print if I don’t give you the file right so even though I showed you how to make this here today. I thought that the file turned out. Well, so I’m uploading it to Thingiverse. I made my own Thingiverse page. Where most of the things that I print here on the channel, You’ll be able to download them and print them yourself, so that is very, very exciting. The link will be in the description. So you can print this off yourself for everyone else. If you don’t have a 3d printer. I am giving this one away, you know? How do you enter? It’s very simple. Be subscribe to make a comment below and at the end of your comment. I’ll know that you’re asking for this for the sapper link token. If you end it with a smiley face, it can be any type of smiley face and that will enter you into the giveaway. I’ll be doing a drawing for who gets it in a week and I would just like to mention that. I’ve always done international shipping for this, but for these 3d printed parts. I’m just getting killed and shipping every time that I do these, so I’m gonna do the continuous United States for these 3d printed giveaways So now that we’re done 3d printing. What does the result look like well? I think it looks really, really good. Actually, so I think this looks awesome. A one possibility that I could see doing in the future. Maybe not myself. Maybe you guys want to do it when you win them. You can send me back pictures or something but, um. These would be pretty cool if you painted them too. So that they’d be like a 3d painting. Of course, if you liked this video, hit that like button. If you want to see more hit that subscribe button so you can catch the giveaways of 3d printed parts in the future and as always. I’ll see you next video [Music].
